I remember as a child, visiting from Pt. Colborne, going with Mom and Ann to watch Poppa bowling with his club. He wore a Panama hat, and, jacket off for this occasion, a white shirt and tie, and suspenders. He had a cigar clenched in his teeth as he bowled, his spectacles shone. After he'd bowled he came over to the fence to greet us, with the twinkle in his eye we all remember. But it was back to the game, all seriousness, in a few minutes. We went on down to the lovely beach, for a picnic and swims, and sandcastles.
